The urban planners who drafted city maps by hand in the early 20th century — working in blue ink on cream paper with a precision that came from years of practice — produced drawings whose graphic quality was never their intention and always their achievement. This Monaco Edition wool rug draws from those hand-drafted plans: a pale ground crossed by fine lines of cool blue and pale terracotta in a composition that reads as architectural from a distance and as delicate linework up close.
