The stone surfaces found in ancient ruins — travertine worn to a warm ivory-amber by centuries of weather, the surface carrying the marks of time as naturally as wood carries grain — have a quality of beauty that no new material replicates. This Monaco Edition rug was hand-knotted in wool and silk with aged stone as its explicit reference: warm amber, pale gold and ivory in organic surface forms, the silk threads giving the aged palette a natural luminosity that prevents the warmth from reading as simply neutral. Wool and silk are both natural, renewable fibres sourced responsibly in Monaco Edition's production chain, chosen as much for their ecological integrity as for their performance.
