Rimpa school painters working in Kyoto during the Edo period developed a vocabulary of botanical forms — blossoms, branches and leaves rendered in gold, teal and warm ivory on silk — that valued decoration and depth in equal measure, the surface always beautiful and always carrying more than it appeared to on first looking. Monaco Edition drew from those Rimpa compositions for this circular wool rug: soft botanical forms in pale teal, rose and ivory on a warm ground, the circular format giving the composition the completeness of a painted fan or a lacquer box lid. Pure wool is sustainably sourced and biodegradable. For a bedroom or living room. Available in custom sizes.
