Raku ceramics — fired in Japan by the tea masters who believed that the most beautiful objects were those formed by the collaboration of maker, material and fire — produce surfaces of extraordinary tonal complexity from the simplest clay: deep greens and warm blacks that no two firings ever replicate exactly. Monaco Edition hand-knotted this silk rug with that raku surface quality as its direct reference: deep forest green and warm sage in a mosaic of tonal variation, the pure silk pile giving the green palette a natural luminosity that shifts with every change in the room's light.
