The bleached stone surfaces of ancient Greek and Roman ruins — limestone and marble weathered over centuries to a cool grey-ivory that carries warmth despite its neutrality — produce a quality of surface that interior designers have been trying to replicate in every material for decades. This Monaco Edition rug was hand-knotted in pure silk with that weathered stone as its reference: cool grey and pale ivory in a composition of worn, layered forms, the silk pile adding a natural luminosity that prevents the restrained palette from reading as flat.
