The aged terracotta surfaces of Central Asian archaeological sites — walls where millennia of sun and mineral salts have worked clay pigment into a surface of extraordinary subtlety — carry a warmth that no new material can replicate from the start. This Monaco Edition rug was hand-knotted in pure silk with that patinated surface as its direct reference: warm rust, rose and faded amber in a composition that reads as aged rather than designed, as though the colour arrived at its current beauty over a long period of time.
