The stone surfaces of ancient Roman buildings — travertine, tufa and limestone worn by centuries of weather and use into a surface more beautiful than any craftsman could have planned — were the direct starting point for this Monaco Edition rug, hand-knotted in wool and silk. The warm ivory and pale grey tones of the pile carry the quality of aged stone: depth without heaviness, texture without pattern, warmth without colour. The silk content gives the surface a quiet luminosity that lifts the neutral palette and shifts it through the day as the light changes. Both wool and silk are natural, biodegradable and sustainably sourced — premium materials chosen as much for their ecological credentials as for their beauty. Available in custom sizes.
