The carved stone medallions found on the ceilings and floors of Islamic architecture — in the mosques of Isfahan, the madrasas of Samarkand — were never considered decoration in the conventional sense. They were geometry given meaning, pattern treated as a form of sacred precision. This Monaco Edition silk rug draws from that tradition: a large floral medallion rendered in warm ivory and pale gold on a ground of the same tones, visible through the subtle tonal shift of the silk pile rather than through colour contrast. The silk gives the surface a quiet luminosity that photographs suggest and a room confirms. A rug of real refinement for a living room or bedroom where the quality of the floor is understood as part of the architecture. Available in custom sizes.
