The American Abstract Expressionists who worked in geometric colour — Mark Rothko, Ad Reinhardt — understood that placing two tones beside one another in the right proportions produces a visual experience that is genuinely felt rather than simply seen. This Monaco Edition viscose rug applies that understanding to the floor: blocks of deep charcoal, warm amber and pale stone sitting in a composition that reads immediately as resolved. The viscose pile adds a natural lustre that keeps the palette from reading as flat, each field carrying a slight sheen that shifts as the light changes.
