Digital weavers who work at the intersection of code and textile have discovered that pixelating a colour field — breaking a continuous gradient into small discrete blocks of tone — produces a surface that reads as both graphic and organic depending on the viewing distance, the eye resolving the blocks into colour at a distance and into pattern up close. Monaco Edition explored that pixel logic in bamboo silk: a field of deep teal, warm gold and ivory in a fine mosaic of tone, the sustainably sourced bamboo silk adding a natural luminosity that conventional silk achieves only at much greater ecological cost.
