Generous blocks of ochre, deep burgundy, navy and cream sit beside one another in a composition that feels both bold and considered — the colour relationships carrying the easy confidence of a palette that has been lived with and refined over time. The inspiration came from the colour field paintings of the 1960s, where large areas of pure colour were trusted to do all the work without the support of line or form. Woven in viscose, the surface has a warmth and sheen that keeps the blocked composition feeling rich rather than flat.
