A pale, almost silver ground carries fine horizontal striations and the faintest traces of warm amber — a surface that feels aged in the best possible sense, like linen that has been washed many times and has arrived at a tone that no new fabric could replicate. The inspiration came from the pages of early printed books, where the paper itself was as considered as the type placed upon it, and where the texture of the surface was understood as part of the reading experience.
