The topographic maps produced by early 20th-century cartographers working across forested mountain terrain used sage, moss and warm earth tones to trace contour lines that recorded altitude, water and vegetation — compositions determined entirely by geography and read today as art. This Monaco Edition rug was hand-knotted in wool with those cartographic forms as its direct reference: warm ivory and moss green in flowing veining lines that cross the surface with the logic of something that followed the landscape rather than a designer's instruction. Natural wool is sustainably sourced, naturally resilient and biodegradable. For a living room, bedroom or home office. Available in custom sizes.
