The structural engineers who drafted reinforced concrete plans in the early 20th century produced drawings of fine grid lines on cream paper — compositions that were entirely functional and entirely resolved as visual objects, the regularity of the grid carrying a calm authority that no ornamental pattern could replicate. This Monaco Edition wool rug draws from those engineering drawings: a warm ivory ground crossed by a precise grid of lines in soft grey and warm taupe, small geometric accents sitting within the grid cells with the deliberateness of technical notation.
