The ancient fresco painters of Pompeii worked directly into wet plaster — pressing colour into the wall before it could set, so the pigment became part of the surface rather than something applied to it. That quality of colour that lives inside a material rather than sitting on top of it was what Monaco Edition pursued in this circular wool rug. The warm washes of terracotta, sage and ivory don't read as pattern; they read as the surface itself, the way a well-worn fresco reads more beautifully than a fresh one. A rug that makes a bedroom or sitting room feel lived in from the very first day. Custom sizes available.
