Japanese woodblock artists of the Edo period understood that the most powerful way to place a natural motif on a surface was to let it scatter — branches and blossoms distributed across the ground with a freedom that looked effortless and required extraordinary control. This Monaco Edition rug was hand-knotted in wool with that principle guiding every decision: vivid burnt-orange botanical forms distributed across a cool grey field, each one placed with the confidence of a mark that needed no revision. The contrast between the warm florals and the cool ground is one of the most visually alive combinations in the collection.
