The checker patterns of medieval floor tiles — laid in terracotta and cream across the floors of monasteries and civic halls across Europe — were chosen not for their decorative quality but for their permanence: a geometry so simple and so resolved that no amount of wear could diminish it. This Monaco Edition rug was made in bamboo silk with that same confidence in geometry: a warm terracotta and ivory checker field that reads clearly from every angle, the bamboo silk adding a natural sheen that elevates the classical pattern without altering its character. Bamboo silk is a sustainably sourced, naturally lustrous fibre with a softness comparable to conventional silk and a significantly lower environmental impact. Available in custom sizes.
