The figurative sculptors who worked in the European modernist tradition — Giacometti, Marini, Richier — reduced the human form to its essential gesture, stripping away detail until only the weight and direction of the figure remained. This Monaco Edition wool rug draws from that tradition of essential figuration: an abstracted human form in pale grey and warm ivory on a cream ground, rendered with the economy of a sculptor's maquette rather than the completeness of a finished work.
