Rug Star, brought to life by designer Jürgen Dahlmanns in Berlin, challenges the idea of what a rug can be. Crafted by hand in Nepal, India and Afghanistan, each rug brings movement, mood and narrative to the floor — far more than just a backdrop.
Dahlmanns draws inspiration from his architectural training and deep travel experiences. His collections — like Casino Total, SUPER‑Minimal, MidCentury Botanical and EasyMe — range from bold, retro geometry to painterly brushstrokes. Every design offers mood, contrast or texture that shifts the character of a room. Rug Star rugs don’t match cues — they set them, rethinking how art and surface interact.
These are hand-knotted rugs made using Tibetan or Persian techniques, with knot counts tailored to visual density and physical life. Materials include fine wools and silk accents, chosen for tactile clarity and durability. Rug Star allows custom sizing and palettes, so each rug can be aligned both visually and dimensionally — whether it’s a runner, square or oversized format.
Rug Star blends contemporary modern lines (Casino Total, SUPER‑Minimal, Waterlily, EasyMe) with more structured, timeless references (BlackLabel, NewClassic, NewTribal). Their Rug Sculptures — such as multishape designs — blur the boundary between carpet and sculpture, inviting touch and stepping beyond conventional form.
The brand isn't about restrained trend-following. Instead, it's about rugs that emerge as independent characters — shaping space through form, colour and texture. Production remains artisanal, and each piece is designed to live with you, not past you.
Rug Star isn’t a rug you hide — it’s the reason a room feels inspired.
